M23 rebel fighters have advanced into the centre of Bukavu, South Kivu’s capital, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, sparking mixed scenes of panic and celebration. It comes just weeks after the Rwanda-backed armed group seized Goma, in an unprecedented expansion of DRC territory under their control.
